FreeFrom Food awards launched
Anyone with dietary restrictions will know how difficult it can be to maintain healthy eating, especially when out and about.
The last few years have seen a fantastic range of new products coming into the market aimed at consumers who have to limit certain ingredients for health reasons and we’ve come a long way from gluten-free bread in a tin!
Irish FreeFrom Food Awards
Launching on Saturday at the Allergy and FreeFrom Expo, Freefrom Food Awards Ireland has been established independently by Irish businessman, John Burke, founder of GFLife and a lifelong coeliac.
The FreeFrom Food Awards, were started in the UK in 2008, being the only industry awards for FreeFrom foods, by FoodsMatter and FreeFrom Foods Matter. Having been a judge at the UK FreeFrom Awards for over 5 years, John has adapted the awards format for an Irish setting. The awards are entirely independent.
Innovation and excellence
“The awards were established originally to encourage innovation and to celebrate excellence in the FreeFrom Food industry. I am thrilled to establish the Irish FreeFrom Food Awards, giving manufacturers and suppliers recognition for the superb range of FreeFrom Foods now available in Irish supermarkets and retail outlets,” says John Burke, Irish FreeFrom Food Awards. “Having eaten gluten-free for forty-two years, I certainly am grateful for the development and innovation that has gone into this area of the market.”
How to enter
The FreeFrom Food Awards launch begins a process from call to entry, to judging, to the official awards ceremony, which will take place, for the first time in Ireland, in May 2016.
Manufacturers of FreeFrom Foods are invited to enter, by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org for a brochure and entry form. The entry process promises to be simple and there are over 40 categories, ensuring that products are matched equally, such as sausages against sausages during the judging process.
Come to the awards launch
Find out what FreeFrom products are on the Irish Market, meet with some of the entrants, mingle with judges and learn what FreeFrom is all about. The launch takes place on Saturday 10th October, at 4pm at the Allergy & FreeFrom Expo, Industries Hall, RDS, Dublin.
