Meet our speakers
Fionuala Clarence is a member of Dr Dilis Clare’s clinical team at Health and Herbs, and is a fully qualified medical herbalist and aromatherapist. Herbal medicine is the use of flowers, bark, fruits, leaves, seeds, and roots of plants for therapeutic purposes. It is estimated that nearly a quarter of all medicines used today originally derived from plants. Aspirin is probably the most well known. Being menopausal is not a sickness and we will talk about tips and tools to keep the hormones steady.
Nutritionist Niamh Burke‘s special area of interest is female hormones, weight loss and metabolic repair; helping women to look and feel their best. She has just moved into an office in number 34 Dominick Street where she’s opened Monday- Saturday for consultations. Niamh also runs group workshops and a very successful online program – The 21 Day Kefir Detox.
Sharon Gannon‘s background in cooking and interest in healthy eating led her to set up Make It. Group cooking classes and live cookery demos with fun nutritional stuff thrown in for good measure are what she is about. Make It also runs retreat weekends, kids cookery classes and Come Dine with Me (with a difference).
A total foodie who lost two stone almost 6 years ago, Sharon is also a Unislim leader and has run classes in Galway for the last two years. She believes a lot of people are lacking in nutrition because of lack of knowledge, lack of time or lack of motivation – her motto is food that is healthy, easy and tasty.
We’re delighted to introduce our fourth speaker, leading women’s health physiotherapist Aoife Ni Eochaidh.
Aoife’s expertise means we’re going to know exactly what happens to our pelvic floors during the menopause, what we need to look out for when our hormones dip and all the tips and tricks needed to keep ourselves in tip-top shape.
