New varicose vein treatment launches in Ireland
You can say goodbye to varicose veins painlessly thanks to a new, patient-friendly solution just introduced to Ireland.
Now unsightly, painful varicose veins can be a thing of the past with the new Venaseal treatment, launched across Ireland following excellent results achieved in Germany and in the UK.
Described as the next generation in varicose vein care, the Venaseal Closure System boasts a greatly improved post-treatment outcome, with significant benefits such as no “downtime”, no need for compression stockings, only one local anaesthetic, and immediate results.
More traditional treatments for varicose veins include vein “stripping” under general anaesthetic, or laser treatment requiring multiple injections of local anaesthetic.
But the Venaseal treatment, now available from Irish vascular surgeons nationwide, uses a specially developed, safe-for-the-body medical adhesive gel which is inserted into the vein through a tiny tube, to seal the vein closed quickly and effectively. The treatment is minimally invasive and requires only one local anaesthetic.
Mr Sean O’Neill, vascular surgeon at the Blackrock Clinic in Dublin, said: “Using the Venaseal medical adhesive gel allows me to quickly and effectively close off the affected veins, with no downtime. Patients can head back to work the same day, travel on holiday, and bare their legs again.”
